Quantitative analysis for management

Research output: Book/ReportTextbook

Abstract

This book has been developed through the Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM) at Macquarie University in Sydney. The topics selected in the chapters have been specially directed to the needs of those working in business, management and commerce. The examples have been specifically selected to demonstrate the relevance of basic mathematics, statistics and quantitative techniques in day-to-day commercial contexts. The modern business manager is quite familiar with everyday hand-held calculators and some of the simpler exercises can be solved using this way. However, the more complex calculations are best done using computer packages and in this case the programs Minitab, POM-QM for Windows and Microsoft Excel are used where appropriate. Information about these packages is provided in the section 'A note on computer packages'. Each chapter has exercises at the end and the full solutions to these are provided. In addition, there are thirty six practice exercises that span the entire text along with their full solutions. Relevant statistical tables are also given at the very end of the book.
