Recognition and enforcement of foreign judgments in China

Abstract

This paper examines the law governing recognition of foreign court judgments in China and whether this regime is in practice effective. It is concluded that it is not, reflecting among other factors a more extensive problem in the Chinese legal system, that is, the limited reach of the courts in civil matters.
