Abstract

Background and Objective: Landslide is one of the major hazards in residential areas of mountainous and sloppy hillsides which cause lots of financial damage and casualties. The amount of damage caused by landslides can be considered as a serious warning. Therefore, a plan that diminishes the damage caused by this phenomenon, and also harmonize government and public sectors according to their capabilities and responsibilities is needed. Nargeschal village placed in the mountains of Azadshahr town in Golestan province faced a landslide disaster because of heavy rainfall in June 2014. Given the frequency of landslides in this place as well as damage to the context and residential houses, this study is searching for solutions for vulnerability reduction of the physical environment and buildings and also management solutions for the village reconstruction plan.
Method: The research method for this study is descriptive-analytical. The data were collected through in-depth interviews with authorities, investigating documents and visiting the village a total of 4 times spatial analysis for identifying the vulnerability of the physical environment and building elements were used as the method of data analysis.
Conclusion: Findings illustrate that utilizing base stabilization alternatives such as using retaining walls, shoring, and surface drainage system for water and sewage made the village's stabilization possible in its current location. After that, the reconstruction plan of the village was formulated, which includes solutions for vulnerability reduction in terms of context, structural elements, and constitution of the engineering office for the village with the aim of organizing and managing things, public training, technician education and application of financial management alternatives as well as encouraging ones. Therefore, folk’s role during the design, construction and controlling phases is really vital in success rate.
