    Abstract

The spontaneous emission from dye introduced into the centre of tapered hollow-core photonic crystal fibre was characterized in the transverse direction. Suppression of emission due to local density of state effects, which cannot be understood from the bandstructure alone, were observed to be consistent with theory.
