Abstract
The performance of a rectangular bore, self-heated, longitudinally discharge-excited Sr+ recombination laser was investigated. For approximately constant input power, high average output powers were found to be maintained for pulse-repetition-frequencies (PRFs) of up to 10 kHz, in contrast to other results reported in the literature. Laser action was found to fill the full aperture of the laser bore relatively uniformly over the same PRF range.
