Abstract

The analysis of rocks with the electron microprobe is described. Glass disks are prepared after digestion of the rook powder with a lithium tetraborate-lanthanum oxide fusion mixture. Linear calibration plots for Si, Al, Fe, Ca, Mg, Na, K and Ti are obtained for standard rocks. Microprobe results agree well with X-ray spectrographic and chemical data.
