Abstract
The article focuses on some aspects of the scientific life of the orientalist Paul de Lagarde (1827-1891). Attention is paid to his publication of Coptic texts and his correspondence with other orientalists on this matter. It appears that de Lagarde has once had the intention to publish the important works of Shenute and Besa, but never found the time to actually do so. The publication of these texts would only be realised several decades after his death.
