Abstract
In Australia, signed language interpreters play an indispensable role in deaf people's daily
life. This article makes a brief review of the professionalization of signed language interpreting in Australia,
discusses five aspects of signed language interpreting, introduces the training of signed language interpreters,
and outlines the results of the research into signed language interpreting. Finally, the article probes into the
implications of signed language interpreting in Australia for China.
