Abstract

Ventilation is integral part of a substation in order to dissipate heat losses from transformer and IT equipment. In this paper, a substation ventilation design is studied to determine the optimal design parameters to be installed within the room. Several models were investigated to mitigate the thermal issues in the substation by CFD analysis. Temperature profile and airflow patter in the room is obtained to pinpoint the hot-spots as well as quantity and location of the louvers and the fans to be employed.
