Abstract

The technique of non-colinear sum frequency mixing has been used to generate single frequency ultraviolet radiation at twice the carrier frequency of a frequency modulated (FM) dye laser. This may provide a useful technique for frequency locking the FM oscillation to a frequency reference and gives information about the purity of the FM oscillator.
