Abstract
The current research reports on the development, implementation and evaluation of a Social Skills programme for residents in a juvenile detention centre. The report highlights methodological difficulties in working within the custodial environment and suggests some useful techniques for developing acceptance of Social Skills programmes. Evaluation of the programme revealed mixed results with self-report data at odds with behavioural assessment of the subjects. In general however the programme was positively evaluated.
