Abstract

An environment has been developed for simulating satellite communication links. The environment is modular, user-friendly and interactive. The communication channel configuration is entirely user-defined, being built up from a number of 'blocks'. Results of simulations can be displayed graphically. No programming is needed for normal simulations. However the environment allows easy addition of new blocks. This enables blocks implementing 'exotic' functions to be written and existing algorithms to be easily improved. The simulation techniques used in implementing some elements of the environment are reviewed.
