    Abstract

The Songspirals: Yolŋu women sharing & nourishing milkarri exhibition was held at the University of Newcastle Art Gallery, from 23 September – 26 November 2022. It builds on the award winning book of the same name which won the Prime Ministers Literary award in 2020. The Songspirals exhibition included prints, weaving, larrakitj, and audio-visual materials, showcasing the deep and ongoing relationships between Yolŋu people and their land through songspirals, also known as songlines. The exhibition tells stories of songspirals and how they are lived through ceremonial and everyday life, sharing aspects of 5 Dhuwa and Yirritja Songspirals.
