Abstract
The applications of optical parametric oscillators (OPO) in chemical processes, industrial and environmental diagnostics and optical physics were discussed. The availability of quasi-phase-matched (QPM) media and of efficient continuous wave (cw) pump lasers enabled high-performance cw OPOs to be developed as realistic spectroscopic sources. Continuous narrowband tunability, preferably on a single-longitudinal-mode (SLM) basis is a desirable performance characteristic of pulsed OPOs amenable to high-resolution spectroscopy.
