    Abstract

We analyse the stability of Couette flow of radially magnetized ferrofluid in the annulus between a long rotating inner cylinder and a stationary outer cylinder when a radial temperature gradient is applied. When gravity is absent and the magnetic field is sufficiently strong, a very small temperature gradient can completely destabilize the Couette flow.
