Abstract

Most individuals who survive stroke experience significant recovery. However, the course of recovery is highly variable and influenced by initial stroke severity. Assessment of stroke recovery should include evaluation of neurological recovery (impairments), disability, and overall health status. Understanding patterns of recovery following stroke is a prerequisite for developing appropriate rehabilitation programs for stroke patients.
