Abstract

We study the temporal amplitude stability of a continuous-wave (CW) intracavity frequency-doubled self-Raman Nd:GdVO 4 laser (yellow laser), and compare to a CW intracavity frequency-doubled Nd:GdVO 4 laser (green laser). Both experimental and theoretical results indicate that at high pump powers the yellow laser shows strong amplitude fluctuations (peak to peak >20%) similar to that in the simple green laser. However, for lower powers there is a regime where the yellow laser exhibits much lower (peak to peak <1%) amplitude noise.
