Abstract

We report the first sub-picosecond pulses from a fiber laser with a directly generated emission beyond 3.0 µm. The 3.5 µm dual-wavelength pumped system is mode-locked via nonlinear polarisation rotation, producing 1.3 nJ pulses lasting 830 fs.
