    Abstract

    The purpose of this paper is to explore the role of webbased community of practice in teacher's professional development. The focus is on e-portfolio assisted mentoring for professional development in a web-based community of practice. The design and structure of a community of practice is presented with the study of impact on competence development. The focus of survey was to establish, how pedagogic workers assess the participation in a web-based community of practice on the development of their personal competences. The paper finds that the participation in a web-based community had important influence on teacher's competence development.
