Abstract

The industrial revolution brought people from their homes to factories and offices. Information and communication technologies (ICT) including ubiquitous high speed broadband, tablets and smartphones are facilitating the reverse of this trend, the ability for people to move back into their homes. Knowledge workers (people who have the skills to extract and manage information) use these technologies and digital connectivity to do their work making knowledge work independent of location.
