    Abstract

    Our conveniently-fabricated spherical-reflector optical cavities with dimensions below 10 microns give localised tunable regions of greatly-enhanced light intensity suitable for applications in atom optics, microlasers, surface-enhanced single molecule detection, and many other research areas.
