Abstract

Alveo is a new Virtual Laboratory to support research on Human Communication Science. It provides a repository for language and communication data and an API that provides an interface for tools to work on the data. Some of the goals of the project are to provide a home for data sharing, to make new tools available to researchers in a range of disciplines and to support reproducible research by capturing repeatable workflows for data analysis. This tutorial will describe the main features of the platform and give students the opportunity to work with the API and explore the data holdings in the repository.
