    Abstract

Presents a new edition of a book first published in 1982 and not abstracted at that time. The contributors consider changes to the UK's geography in recent history, with a particular focus on the last decade, interpreting change as a continuous process, the impact of which may only be slowly realised. All aspects of human geography are covered: land use; population; agriculture; energy; water; transport; manufacturing; market services; urban areas; rural areas; politics; quality of life; recreation; environmental impacts; pollution; and conservation. Apart from opening and closing editorial chapters, all papers are abstracted separately. -P.Hardiman
