Abstract
A mummified head of a man in the Nicholson Museum was donated to the University of Sydney in 1860. The head was radiocarbon dated at the AMS facility at ANSTO in Sydney. A date of 204-49 cal. BC was obtained, placing the head in the late Ptolemaic Period. The date provides a solid basis for further research into mummification practices of the period.
