The following contribution describes two academic measures which support the education and promotion of immigrant youths in Germany in terms of advanced language training and teacher qualification. The project Förderunterricht/Remedial education program for children with migration background comprises 42 years of professional experience in additional schooling guidelines for immigrant children and youth. The primary aim of the project is to promote and support educational skills of immigrants. Due to the increasing demand of qualified teachers in this domain, the University Duisburg- Essen has initiated a specific qualification measure for teachers and students. The contribution summarizes the main points of both measures.
