Abstract

Stein and Wiedemann (2016) call for research that investigates whether a ‘healthy risk culture’ may be developed and specifically, whether changes in the structures of risk governance may be a path to that end. Indeed, this is a question that industry people often pose: how can we cultivate risk culture in our organization? In this chapter I consider one possible approach, based on executive accountability. A number of jurisdictions are experimenting in this area, with the UK being the first movers back in 2016.
