The ensemble is composed of local musicians playing traditional instruments. During performances Silek, there is very little correlation between the rhythm of the music and the dancers' movements. Formerly transmission Silek was related to matrilineal Minangkabau society and the boys learned Silek with their maternal uncles. In communities near the former West Sumatra, it is possible that the link between music and Silek was stronger as musicians and dancers came from the same group share the same learning experiences. However, Silek is now transmitted independently of music. Silek became the specialization and professional education is open to girls and boys. By addressing the cultural topography, social change and traditional performances, this article describes the Silek and Silek Gelombang during the festival of Idul Hari Ad'Ha in a community on Lake Maninjau West Sumatra.
