    Abstract

30 minute radio segment of fiction, "Glasheen Diary" written and performed by Peter Doyle. Broadcast date 24th September 2006. In the laneways of the darkened city figures move in and out of shadow. The homeless and the restless, the desperate and the crooked, all move about at night. The time is indeterminate, the place uncertain, the mood noir-ish. Somewhere in the gloom, Sydney's own troubled anti-hero Billy Glasheen is on his way to a fateful meeting. It's the mid '50s, there's rock 'n'roll in the air and jazz in the cellars. Especially for The Night Air, writer, Peter Doyle guides you into Australia's own noir history.
