    Abstract

The Mooney Problem Checklist was administered to a sample of 109 adolescents and both of their parents drawn for metropolitan Sydney. Product moment correlation coefficients showed that the same sex parents had greater awareness of the adolescents' problems than the opposite sex parents. All parents were ill informed in the area of courtship, sex and marriage but they had more insights into the problems in the home. Both parents were more aware of the problems associated with health and physical development in the girl than in the boy.
