Abstract
Objective: To understand the selection preference of urban elderly for family physician service, and to provide reference basis for accurate provision of family physician service.
Methods: Based on the discrete choices experiment method, literature review and expert consultation method were used and determined four attributes including service form, service content, reputation of family physician and contract cost, got 6 choice set by orthogonal experimental design, a face-to-face questionnaire survey was used to assess the urban elders’ preference in Anhui province, and conditional Logit model was used to conduct preference analysis.
Results: A total of 573 samples were collected. To the urban elderly, the relative importance of family physician service ranked as reputation of family physician, contract cost, service content and service form. The urban elderly showed preference for the family physician service with a home service, basic service package superimposed chronic disease service package, good reputation of family physician and lower contract cost. Urban elderly was willing to pay 156 yuan for the good reputation of family doctors than those with poor reputation. Compared with the basic service package, the urban elderly was willing to pay 112 yuan for the service content combining the basic service package and the chronic disease service package.
Conclusion: Reputation of family physician was considered the most important attribute for urban elderly in choosing family physician service. It is suggested to speed up the building of family physician team, and focus on improving the technical level and service attitude of family physician to improve the efficiency of family physician services for the urban elderly.
