Abstract

Platinum containing 11 at.% zirconium is shown to undergo the A ₈B ordering transformation, forming Pt₈Zr with the Pt ₈Ti structure. The order/disorder transformation temperature for this alloy is determined to be 1068.8 °C ± 2.5°C. The kinetics of this transformation is rapid, unlike other reported Pt₈X alloys.
