Abstract

This paper will provide a philosophical framework to enrich our understanding of Global Mindset. It begins by arguing that much of the literature does not show how the list of competencies which are described in terms of the phrase “Global Mindset” are synthesized such that they form a notion of “Global Mindset.” I then argue that a manager on a global assignment needs to develop the way of being of a philosopher. Although it may sound counter intuitive, being philosophical involves an adventure across difference. A manager who is philosophical is capable of adapting to and creating in unfamiliar circumstances.
