Abstract
A comprehensive study of the iconography and characteristics of Storm-Gods in Elam has never been attempted. Consequently their genesis and evolution, iconographic characteristics and relationships with the religious and cultural landscapes of neighbouring cultures remain uncertain. The present study offers a review of the depiction of Storm-Gods in western Elam based on analysis of excavated glyptic material and related seal inscriptions. Its main aim is to advance our understanding of Elamite highland and lowland religious pantheons; leading perhaps to the recognition of storm divinities with traits that can be considered distinctively "Elamite". It also seeks to provide further background for discussions of Adad as an Elamite divinity in the religious pantheon of Achaemenid Persia.
