Abstract
Reviews the history of geography in Britain: most research is carried out by individuals in the universities. Geographical activity 1945-60 is described; this was followed by interest in quantification in the 1960s and led to interest in process in physical geography and exploration of alternative philosophies in human geography. Geography is far less unified now than in earlier years. -K.Clayton
