Abstract

This paper represents Theoretical Efficiency of AlAs/GaAs/GaAs0.9Bi0.085 based new multijunction solar cell and effects of solar radiation and sun concentration on it. A new solar cell configuration has been introduced in this paper with an efficiency of 48% for Air Mass 1.5G condition and for Air Mass 1.5D the efficiency becomes 52%. The calculation for the proposed solar cell configuration has been done based on a modified version of spectral p-n junction solar cell model. For different Air Mass condition the irradiance changes, so does the short circuit density. The change in short circuit current density causes the change in the overall theoretical efficiency. The model considered here is calculated for both one sun and different sun concentration. The theoretical efficiency increases as the sun concentration increases. The optoelectronic parameters as well as the equations used in the calculations of different cell parameters are given. The J-V characteristic for both the air Mass condition is shown by graph. A numerical comparison is also given in the paper.
