Abstract
Many managers overestimate their interviewing skills. Effective interviewing involves recognising one's weaknesses and eliminating them. Interviewers are advised to: know the job they want to fill, have a plan, and be open-minded. It is important to let the candidate talk. Vague answers have to be dealt with by asking probing questions. Making notes is essential as most interviewers remember candidates interviewed first and last.
