Abstract
Fast and accurate timing acquisition are of particularly crucial for communication and location/tracking systems which make use of Impulse Radio (IR) Ultra Wideband (UWB) technology. In this paper, we consider timing acquisition for systems which employ UWB technology. We propose and examine a fast and robust two-stage timing acquisition scheme. The proposed scheme is suited for both low data rate and high data rate scenarios. Extensive simulations are conducted to evaluate the acquisition scheme proposed.
