Abstract

The topographical biomechanical changes across the menisci and cartilage of ACL deficient ovine knees were determined. Dynamic stiffness and phase lag was determined using a novel hand-held indentation probe. The subjective assessment revealed that 22 of 24 menisci in the SHAM group were normal whereas, in the DIV group, only 4 of 16 were normal. No significant difference in stiffness or thickness was found of the patella or trochlea between groups.
