Abstract

The mid-infrared (mid-IR) spectrum (2-20 μm) is attracting significant scientific and technological interest since virtually all molecules have rotational or vibrational absorption lines in this wavelength range. Applications for identifying unknown biological and chemical threats range from molecular trace detection (e.g., airport security screening) to environmental monitoring and remote sensing of chemical warfare agents [1].
