    Abstract

    Existing open plankton pond techniques employed in Australian warm-water fish culture are outlined. The development of the covered plankton pond is traced and details of materials used, management and production over an 18-month period provided. The advantages of covered ponds, improved design features for further work and the significance of techniques develeped are briefly discussed.
