Two-port MIMO antenna with orthogonal placement for millimeter wave applications

Abstract

A dumble-shaped stub-loaded modified circular microstrip printed antenna for millimeter wave application is discussed in this article. The insertion of the stub is intended to achieve the wide impedance bandwidth along with improvement of radiation characteristics. The antenna geometry is designed on top of 0.78 mm thick Roger RT/Duroid 6002. Afterward, a two-port MIMO antenna system was designed based upon single antenna. The MIMO antenna offers an ultra-wideband ranging from 24.7 to 49.5 GHz having a mutual coupling of less the -30 dB due to orthogonal arrangement. Furthermore, the proposed MIMO system is compared to previously published work in the literature, demonstrating the superiority of the proposed design over them.
