    Abstract

    An approach to assessing uncertainty in air quality models is outlined based on Monte Carlo simulation, but this alone is not sufficient for decision making. Instead the problem should be turned into one involving the optimisation of an objective function, which in air quality management should be a suitable integral of weighted exceedences over the whole region of interest.
