Abstract
It is shown that in an explosive system involving a single branching intermediate with normal temperature dependences both the classical (thermal and chain) critical conditions are supercritical. The chain-thermal critical condition is transformed into two forms, one suitably regarded as "iso-thermal perturbed by self heating" and the other as "thermal perturbed by branching reactions". The deviations from classical behaviour increase with pressure and ambient temperature.
