Abstract
Broad vegetation banding in the Wiluna-Meekatharra area exhibits similar controls to comparable patterns elsewhere, namely the interception of sheetflow on smooth plainlands. Breakdown of the patterns under rangeland deterioration points to the role of grove vegetation in maintaining the essential balance of dispersed runoff, interception and enhanced infiltration. -from Authors
