WHO Toolkit for Rapid Community Online Interaction Analysis: (Young People edition)

Research output: Book/ReportOther reportpeer-review

Abstract

This toolkit has been designed to assist infodemic management (IM) efforts by providing training in rapid community online interaction assessment (RCOIA). The focus of this version of the toolkit is adolescent communities, and those interested in serving them.

RCOIA is a quick and low-cost way to enlist community members in sentiment tracking and analysis efforts, with an eye toward beliefs, attitudes, and feelings with potential to adversely affect a desired community health behavior (e.g., vaccine uptake, masking, etc.) Contemporary examples include community confusion about COVID-19 vaccine side effects (which can lead to individual hesitancy and vulnerability to misinformation); group frustration about changing guidelines about wearing masks at work (which can invite lower vigilance among employees); and/or widespread belief in a school district that students contracting COVID are permanently barred from sports (which might inhibit reporting symptoms.)
