Abstract
A resonator antenna made from a woodpile electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) material and a metallic ground plane is proposed. The resonator is fed using a double slot antenna in the ground plane of the device. The antenna has the advantages of high gain and low side-lobes. To confirm the complete bandgap of the woodpile EBG material, a band diagram is computed. Preliminary theoretical results on radiation patterns and impedance bandwidth are described.
